Merge Tags Overview

Merge tags are placeholders that insert dynamic data into email subject lines and content at send time. They are commonly used for personalisation, such as inserting a contact’s first name.

Merge tags can also apply rules to control what content is displayed based on contact data, for example showing different greetings depending on a stored value such as gender.

In addition to contact-specific data, merge tags can insert system information such as unsubscribe links, the current date, and other account-level values.

Available merge tags can be viewed while editing content. In the Drag & Drop editor, they are accessed from the Insert menu. In WYSIWYG templates, they are available via the Merge Tags button.
