How to Select Which Capsule Contacts to Sync
By default, all contacts from Capsule are pulled into Transpond when the integration is active. However, you can control which contacts are actively used in Transpond (and count toward your contact limit) using one of the methods below:
Unsubscribe a Contact in Capsule
To prevent a specific contact from being used in Transpond:
1. Open the contact in Capsule.
2. Use the Transpond panel on the right.
3. Change the status from Active to Unsubscribed.
Result: The contact is excluded from use in Transpond.

Bulk updating contacts in Transpond
If you have many contacts you don’t want in Transpond:
- In Capsule, filter the contacts you want to exclude (e.g., via tags).
- Save the filtered set as a list in Capsule.
That saved list syncs into Transpond as a segment.
In Transpond:
- Go to Contacts > Change Status.
- Select the segment you just synced.
- Change their status to Denylisted (or In-Active).
Result: All contacts in that segment are excluded from email sends and pricing counts

Setting subscriber status with a Capsule import
When importing contacts into Capsule from a CSV file:
Include a column titled Transpond Status.
For each contact, enter one of these values:
- DENYLISTED
- INACTIVE
- UNSUBSCRIBED
- Map this column in the import process.
Result: Contacts sync to Transpond with the defined status and are excluded accordingly

How to automate setting contacts to Denylisted
To make contacts inactive automatically as they join a segment:
- Go to Automations > Create Automation > From Scratch.
- Set a trigger: When a contact joins a segment (the segment you want to exclude).
- Add an action: Add to the Denylist.
- Save and activate the automation.
Result: Contacts entering the targeted segment are automatically denylisted
If you're not familiar with Transpond Automations then you can read more about them in our Automation docs section.
